Civic Engagement & Peacebuilding

Active citizens, peaceful communities, democratic futures.

About this program

What we do

Democracy and peace are not automatic — they are built, defended and renewed by active citizens. AYLC's Civic Engagement & Peacebuilding program equips young Tanzanians to understand their rights and duties, participate meaningfully in governance, and become bridges of peace in their communities.

We run civic education workshops, voter awareness campaigns, peace clubs in schools and dialogue forums that bring young people together across ethnic, religious and political lines. We also train young peace mediators who can prevent and resolve conflict at neighbourhood level.

Our work is non-partisan, principled and grounded in Tanzania's constitution and the African Youth Charter.
